A Note from the Editor

Our main goals at ComePose are to nurture students’ creativity and provide a space for them to share their ideas and experiences with readers in the real world.

 

While we carefully edit each work so it adheres to the conventions of grammar, mechanics, and other elements of good writing in English, we also strive to preserve the writer's style as much as possible. Therefore, in some instances where language usage is nonstandard, we allow the writer's authentic voice to shine through since this is often the very thing that gives the writing its distinctive beauty. When we select a student’s work, it is not necessarily because the paper is free of English language issues; it's because we believe the writing is smart, it has heart, and it engages the reader deeply.

We congratulate and thank both the students whose writings we publish and the English Department instructors at the University of Belize who guide and support them.
